Measure the equipment before we size the room
A treadmill, rack, cable machine and free-weight area all need different clearances. Door positions and glazing can also make a surprisingly large difference to usable floor space. We plan the room around the equipment list rather than trying to fit the kit in afterwards.
Floor, height and ventilation matter
Heavy equipment, dropped weights and high-intensity training put different demands on a room than an office. The floor finish, structure, headroom and ventilation need to suit the type of training you do.
- Rack and machine clearances
- Free-weight and mat areas
- Mirror positions
- Floor finish
- Ventilation and cooling
- Lighting and power
Keep it comfortable all year
Insulation is only part of the answer. A gym can heat up quickly during a workout, particularly with a lot of glazing. We can discuss opening windows, ventilation, heating and air conditioning as part of the design so the room is comfortable in both winter and summer.
Plan for the training you will actually do
Send us your equipment list, a rough garden measurement and the postcode. That is enough for an initial conversation about the footprint, likely specification and budget.
