Different plots need different buildings
Around Ripon, we see everything from historic town properties to newer estates and open village plots. That changes the design. Access, ground levels, exposure and the relationship to neighbouring buildings can all influence the sensible footprint and glazing layout.
Make the view work for you
On more open plots, glazing can be used to frame the garden or countryside rather than simply covering the front elevation. On tighter sites, a more controlled opening can create privacy and still bring in excellent natural light. The design should respond to what is outside the room.
Year-round means thinking beyond insulation
Insulation is essential, but comfort also depends on draught control, glazing, heating, solar gain and how the room is ventilated. We consider the whole envelope rather than treating insulation as one line on a specification sheet.
Start with a sensible brief
A rough sketch is useful but not essential. Tell us the postcode, intended use, approximate size and what you want the room to feel like. We can help refine the rest from there.
